General notes on data processing

I process personal data only insofar as this is necessary to operate this website or to handle an enquiry addressed to me. This notice describes the current technical state of the website.

There is no automated decision-making, including profiling. A transfer to a country outside the European Union is not documented for this project and is not claimed here.

Hosting

This website is hosted by STRATO. The provider is STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin. A contract on processing by a processor pursuant to Art. 28 DSGVO is in place with STRATO.

When the website is called up, technically required connection and access data are processed in order to provide the website and to ensure its secure and stable operation. STRATO keeps server and access logs for this purpose. According to its own information, STRATO anonymises host names and IP addresses in the web server log files it makes available.

According to STRATO, processing in the course of hosting takes place in data centres in Germany. STRATO may use further processors in providing the service.

The legal basis for processing for the technical operation and security of the website is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The legitimate interest is the secure, stable and functional operation of this website.

The typefaces on this website, Source Serif 4 and Source Sans 3, are held on the same server.

Encryption

The website is called up via HTTPS. The connection between browser and server is encrypted with TLS.

Contact by email and telephone

If you contact me by email or telephone, I process the details you give me in order to answer your enquiry and to keep them for further correspondence. That may include your name, contact details and the content of your message.

The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO where a contract or pre-contractual steps are concerned. In all other cases the legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The legitimate interest is handling the enquiry addressed to me. The details remain stored for as long as the correspondence requires, or statutory retention duties exist.

Contact form

There is a form on the Contact page. Required fields are name, email address, subject and message. Company or operation and telephone number are optional. Without the required fields, the enquiry cannot be handled through the form.

When you submit the form, I process the details entered in order to handle your enquiry and to prepare pre-contractual steps. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.

The details are not stored in a separate database of this website. They are transferred server-side by email to my contact mailbox kontakt@gastwert.com. That mailbox is with STRATO. Sending takes place through STRATO’s email infrastructure. No captcha service is integrated.

The section on contact by email and telephone applies to the correspondence that then sits in the mailbox.

Protection against abusive enquiries

To limit automated or abusive enquiries, the IP address is processed when the form is submitted. It is hashed for this purpose. Only the value produced from it is stored, not the IP address in plain text.

This value exists solely in the server’s working memory and is used only for the technical limitation of enquiries. It is not copied into the contact email and is not used for analysis or marketing. It is not stored in a database or on a data medium. The value ceases to exist when the server process restarts. No fixed deletion period beyond that is in place.

The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The legitimate interest is protecting the contact form and the technical systems against abuse.

Cookies and local storage technologies

This website does not set cookies. It does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB. No analytics, advertising or marketing services are loaded.

External services

The pages do not embed external scripts, external stylesheets, external typefaces, maps, videos or content from social networks. No tracking or consent tool is integrated.

Your rights

You have the following rights against me, where the statutory requirements are met:

• Access to the data stored about you, Art. 15 DSGVO.
• Rectification of inaccurate data, Art. 16 DSGVO.
• Erasure, Art. 17 DSGVO.
• Restriction of processing, Art. 18 DSGVO.
• Data portability, Art. 20 DSGVO.
• Objection to processing that is based on Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO, Art. 21 DSGVO. You may object on grounds arising from your particular situation.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent with effect for the future, Art. 7 Abs. 3 DSGVO. Operation of this website does not currently rely on consent.

A message to kontakt@gastwert.com is sufficient to exercise your rights.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, Art. 77 DSGVO. For me, as controller established in Baden-Württemberg, that authority is:
